The celebration of Prem Purnima Vrat occurs on Purnima Tithi (full moon day) of Chaitra month( March-April). On this auspicious day married men practice fast for the divine love and well being of their beloved wives.
In the morning husband lit the divine flame before the deity of Prem Purnima Devi and put an Apple (Apple here depicts the fruit of love as eating which Havva got the knowledge of love) before it. A yantra of full moon (made of silver and depicting the Prem Purnima) is embedded in that apple. A prasadam of Kheer(rice cooked in sweet milk) is prepared. Through out the day husband observe the fast.
In the evening, wife eat a piece of the apple and put some kheer before the deity. Then husband and wife bind a sacred thread of rainbow colour(symbol of seven births) at each other’s wrist, husband then break his fast by eating remaining apple and kheer.
Unmarried and widower men also practice the fast. They bind one thread at their wrist and the other at the hand of Prem Purnima Devi. The other procedure remains same.

This vrat provide all the material and spiritual comfort to the wife. The unmarried will get the lady having all the virtues. For widower, this vrat will provide spiritual well being of his dead wife’s soul.
This vrat is celebrated every year. Men who love their wives should definitely celebrate this vrat.
